Many houses built in the 1960s and ‘70s have reached their use-by date if they have not already undergone major remodelling. For the owners of this 1960s house, there was no question a renovation was a better option than moving to a new property - the house is in a picturesque location on the banks of the Waikato River.
The house was rather tired and inward looking - effectively there was nothing the owners wished to retain. Consequently, the renovation project worked within the existing framework, but changed virtually every other aspect of the house.
The extensive remodelling programme created a gracious, Italian-inspired villa, which maximises the river outlook, providing an easy indoor-outdoor flow, and plenty of outdoor entertaining areas.
