FRENCH APPEAL

The owners of this home approached Don Nelson Architecture to design the house and an interim residence for the construction period.
Using a French Provincial theme, a barn and a large house were designed concurrently. French roof tiles and a solid, plaster exterior give the buildings a substantial appearance, their uniform design elements adding a sense of cohesiveness. The barn comprises parking and one-bedroom accommodation and is separated by a covered walkway from the main residence.
Perched on a narrow ridge, the house is oriented towards the country views.
Contained in a double-height void, the foyer has a sense of grandeur that is continued throughout the interior, and enhanced by details such as marble floors, wrought iron balustrades and ornate light fittings.
